Race cars erupt into fireball after crash at United States speedway

The three race car drivers involved in a crash at a speedway in the United States have spoken after their vehicles exploded into flames on impact.

Reverend Jeff Knight, Trenton Moriarty and Tyler Tanner have lived to tell the tale after the horrific smash at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington, at the weekend.

The trio were taking part in a Super Late Model race when the engine in Morarty's car blew up on turn one, dropping oil on the track.

Speaking to the Seattle Times, Rock Church preacher Knight said he was speechless when he saw the fireball engulf all three cars.

A crowd of about 3000 people were at the track for the NASCAR 150-lap main event.

Posting on his Facebook page, Tyler Tanner said the crash had destroyed his race car and equipment.

"Majority of my drivers gear is ruined from the flames, however it did it's job," he said.

"I did get 1st and 2nd degree burns to my face and left hand but nothing severe that won't heal with time. Can't wait for the next opportunity to battle Trenton Moriarty and Jeff Knight for wins."
