* The deputy prime minister does not claim to be a constitutional expert, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said to guffaws from Labor MPs as he tried to explain Barnaby Joyce's "black and white" assertion that you can't be a member of parliament and have dual citizenship.

* The New Zealand High Commission has verbally accepted Joyce's renunciation of his NZ citizenship by descent. He's now looking forward to the written advice "turning up pronto".
