Queensland woman sues Woolworths for $320k after slipping on grape

A Queensland woman is reportedly suing Woolworths for $320,000 after she slipped on a grape while shopping in the supermarket's Tewantin store on the Sunshine Coast.

Andrea Downie, 39, claims she fell in the store last year during March or April and injured her back, the Courier-Mail has reported.

Her claim filed in the Brisbane District Court, says the incident also aggravated Ms Downie's ongoing post-traumatic stress disorder and adjustment disorder.

The case will go to trial on November 17, after Ms Downie rejected an attempted settlement by Woolworths in April.

Ms Downie has stated her fall was the store's fault for not keeping its floors clean.

She said the grape which caused her fall was in clear view of store staff.

However, Woolworths has rebutted Ms Downie's claims and said if the injury did occur, its effects were short lived.

It also said her alleged tumble could not be attributed to staff carelessness.

The supermarket giant is "uncertain" that Ms Downie's fall ever took place, as it claims no injuries were reported to store staff on the day.
