Queensland to reopen to travellers from Adelaide

Queensland's Health Minister has announced the state will open its borders to Adelaide on Saturday.

Yvette D'Ath said people from the city's 20 local government areas will no longer face restrictions from 1am on December 12, provided there are no further outbreaks.

"This afternoon I have been briefed by the Chief Health Officer as has the Premier," she said.

"Subject to no unlinked cases over the next five days, we can advise that people will be able to travel from Adelaide into Queensland from 1am on Saturday the 12th of December.

"This has been able to occur because of the great work of South Australia."

Queensland's Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said South Australia's handling of the Parafield cluster meant it was safe to reopen.

"It will on Saturday be 28 days since the first case in that cluster," she said.

"We saw that rapid escalation of case number initially and then they very quickly got on top of those cases, quarantined people and managed it."

Queensland recorded three new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

All three cases were detected in hotel quarantine.
