A 21-year-old international student has died after he crashed while reportedly street racing at Eight Mile Plains.

It is believed he was driving at more than 100kmh when he crashed. Police are still trying to contact his family in China.

"A 21-year-old gentleman has lost his life in what would appear to be a senseless act on our roads," Senior Sergeant Ian Cameron said.

Witnesses told police there may have been up to three cars racing.

The young man is the 13th death on Queensland roads this year.
