Police search and rescue operation underway for 'experienced' bushwalker
A desperate search and rescue operation is underway near Stanthorpe after a 71-year-old experienced bushwalker went missing at the weekend.
Stanthorpe and Wallangarra police and SES crews are currently searching the Girraween National Park, just north of the NSW border, after Manfred Luck failed to check in after a bushwalk on Sunday.
He last made contact with anyone prior to the walk on Saturday, but has since been reported missing Monday morning after the discovery of Mr Luck's vehicle about 9am.

A forward command post has been set up on Mount Norman Road in Wallangarra.
Mr Luck is believed to be an experienced bushwalker, was carrying a backpack at the time, and is described as Caucasian, about 170cm tall with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police are appealing to anyone who has been hiking in the Girraween National Park this past weekend and may have seen Manfred to contact police.
