Queensland begins first stage of easing restrictions

As of today, Queenslanders can gather in groups of 10 for weddings, have up to 30 people at funerals and are allowed to take regional day trips up to 150km in the car.

It's all part of the Queensland Government's first stage of easing coronavirus restrictions.

The 10-person rule applies to gatherings at pools, public spaces, parks, outdoor gyms, libraries and places of worship. 

Hairdressers, beauty therapy and nail salons will re-open, with 10 customers allowed at any one time.

At home, five visitors are now permitted inside and they can be from different households.

Restaurants, cafes, pubs and RSLs will re-open but dining will be limited to 10 people at any one time.

Social distancing of 1.5m is still required and the four square metre rule per person indoors also still applies.

"Keep looking after each other," Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Twitter last night.

"Practise social distancing, stay home if you're sick and, if an area is too crowded, go somewhere else."
