Queensland Police takes a dig at Nickelback ahead of their Brisbane show

The group that everybody loves to hate is set to rock a Brisbane arena tonight to hordes of loyal, screaming fans – but Nickelback haven’t escaped the wrath of the Queensland Police.

The organisation has joined the rock-hating-bandwagon and taken a swipe at the Canadian group on social media.

“Police are on the lookout for these men who are believed to be impersonating musicians around Boondall this evening,” a post on the Queensland Police Service Facebook page reads, posted around 1pm.

“Avoid the area. It may be hazardous to your hearing and street cred.”

The post was accompanied with a “BOLO” declaration – “Be On The Lookout” – and featured animated caricatures of the group’s four members – singer Chad Kroeger, guitarist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger and drummer Daniel Adair.

In bold, red capitals, the post declared “WANTED,” before stating the group’s alleged offense – “crimes against music”. 

The punk-rockers are playing Brisbane Entertainment Centre tonight as part of a national tour.

Despite a popular tendency to criticise the band and the formulaic repetition of their songs - arguably no different to a lot of mainstream artists – the group have sold more than 50 million albums worldwide since they formed in 1995.

A Kickstarter campaign last year aimed to permanently ban the group from performing in London.
