Queensland police Taser returned after officer left it on car's roof

A Queensland police issued Taser stungun has been recovered after an officer accidentally left it on top of his car and drove off yesterday.

The officer was leaving the scene of a house fire in Mikaga Court, Woodridge, about 3pm when he lost the stungun.

After realising he had driven off with the Taser still in its container on his roof, the officer returned and found the empty container on nearby Nyanza Street.

The X26 Taser and its cartridges were missing.

Queensland police this afternoon announced the stungun had been recovered.

"There are no details as to where it was located at this stage," the Queensland Police Service said in a statement.

The mistake follows a Queensland Police officer’s pistol being lost in Woodridge in June. The weapon was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Five people were charged after the pistol was allegedly picked up but not returned to police.
