Queensland paramedic killed in NZ abseiling accident

An Australian woman who fell to her death while abseiling in New Zealand has been identified as a Queensland paramedic.
Verena Jantje Kuhl, from Bundaberg, was abseiling with her partner at Twin Creek Falls in New Zealand’s South Island on Sunday afternoon when she fell, New Zealand's Greymouth Star reports.
Ms Kuhl plummeted about 100m, halfway down the falls.
Her partner abseiled down to find her body before activating a rescue beacon.
Rescuers arrived by chopper from nearby in Greymouth to find Ms Kuhl had died.
"The man roped his way down to the bottom to where his partner was," pilot Angus Taylor told the Greymouth Star.
Ms Kuhl and her partner had been travelling on a climbing and canyoning holiday for some time and had been planning to return to Bundaberg very soon, the Bundaberg Mail reports.
Photos on Ms Kuhl’s Facebook profile show an adventurous young woman who loved abseiling, surfing and paddle boarding.
