Robbers steal multiple vehicles and keys for 80 cars from Yerongpilly car yard

A group of robbers have been caught on camera breaking into a Queensland car yard and stealing multiple vehicles in a two-day heist over the weekend.

The thieves first forced their way into a Yerongpilly car yard office in the early hours of yesterday morning, stealing a laptop, mobile phone and the keys to at least 80 vehicles.

CCTV footage then shows the men, who made no attempt at disguising their identities, driving out of the car yard with four stolen cars.

Around 5am this morning, the men returned to the site to steal another car and remain on-the-run.

Masood Rahimi, the owner of the car yard, told 9NEWS the group’s lack of concern about the site’s security cameras was surprising.

“They didn't have any fear of all of these cameras that we've got,” he said.

A worker at the car yard, Malek Mozafari, also said that the business will be heavily affected financially as a result of the robbery due to their stock of cars remaining without keys.

“The cheapest locksmith we can get would could $17,000 to get the keys back,” he said.

“Still, it’s not secure because someone else has the keys (to these cars).”

Police are investigating the circumstances around the break-in, including the CCTV footage and a hole in one of the business’ fence the robbers used to gain entry.
