Brisbane Broncos player fined, disqualified from driving over road offences

A Broncos rugby league player has been fined $700 and disqualified from driving for six months after driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle while on a suspended license in Queensland.

Winger Selwyn Cobbo appeared in a Nanango court, in south-east Queensland today.

No conviction was recorded.

"I know I've done the wrong thing and I take full responsibility for that mistake," Cobbo said.

"I'll learn from this and I will strive to make better choices in the future."

The Broncos contacted the NRL Integrity Unit after last month's incident.

Broncos chief executive Dave Donaghy said the club did not condone the player's behaviour but would continue to support him on and off the field.

"The club acknowledges the importance of road safety and respecting road laws, as does Selwyn," he said.

"Selwyn has acknowledged to the club that he made an error in judgement on this occasion.

"Selwyn understands he will need to make better decisions in the future, particularly when it comes to complying with road safety."
