Brisbane industrial fire fills sky with toxic smoke
Brisbane residents in the suburb of Rocklea have been warned to close their windows and stay away from Ashover Road after a factory fire filled the sky with toxic smoke.
The fire broke out at a scrap metal yard around 3.45pm this afternoon, sending plumes of black smoke and ash into the sky.
Multiple fire and rescue crews attended the scene, warning earlier today the smoke could impact surrounding areas.

"Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews remain on scene at a commercial structure fire on Ashover Road, Rocklea," a QFES statement read.
"Residents should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medications close by, if required."

QFES said the fire was currently under control with two industrial sheds damaged in the blaze.
While QFES said the threat of the smoke to residents has been eliminated, drivers are still urged to avoid the area.

Timothy Clark from QFES said several commercial items had burned in the blaze.
"There were different products like rubbers, tires and fuel," he said.
Investigations will continue to distinguish what caused the fire.
