Father and partner charged over baby's 'torture' and death in Queensland

A 33-year-old father and his wife will face court today charged with murder and torture following the death of his seven-month-old boy in rural Queensland.

Officers were called to a house in Yugar, in the Moreton Bay region north of Brisbane, about 6.45am yesterday.

The boy was found dead and a crime scene was established, police said.

Reinhardt Bosch, the boy's 33-year-old father, called ambulance crews to the Yugar home yesterday morning.

The paramedics called police.

Bosch and his 22-year-old wife Noemi Kondacs then spent the day being questioned by detectives at Ferny Grove Police Station.

"The investigation has uncovered injuries to the child that are enough for us to charge murder," Queensland Police Detective Inspector David Jackman said.

Police said the baby's injuries left veteran officers shaken.

"It certainly hits home, I've been a detective for 30-odd years and it's one of the most confronting scenes that I've seen," Jackman said.

"They're defenceless at seven months old and it's not pleasant, no."

The couple's religious beliefs will form part of the investigation.

They have both been charged with one count each of murder and torture.
