Young woman raped in Cairns: police

A man who raped a young woman who had been walking along a Cairns street is still on the run.

Police say the man, described as being of Aboriginal appearance, forced the woman into a concealed area near the intersection of Mulgrave Road and Dalton Street about 4am (AEST) on Sunday.

The 22-year-old woman was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
