Woman forced to open till in Qld robbery

An armed robber has launched a raid on a premises in Townsville, forcing a female employee to open the till and escaping with cash and alcohol.

Police responded to the incident on Gregory Street, North Ward, just after 10pm on Tuesday, where a man with a firearm approached the staff member and ordered her to open the safe.

When unable to do so, the woman was dragged to the cash register which she opened before the assailant fled with a quantity of money and a bottle of alcohol.

Police, who are seeking witnesses, say the employee was not physically injured during this incident.
