Woman dies after hit by jetski in river

A woman has died after being hit by a jetski while swimming in a river in southeast Queensland.

The 37-year-old woman suffered critical head injuries when she was hit while taking a dip in the Burnett River at Bundaberg about 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she died at the scene.

Police said she is related to the man who was riding the jetski, and that alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
