Woman charged over newborn's death bailed

A woman charged with killing her newborn baby a year and a half after the child was found dead at a far north Queensland home has been granted bail.

Kellie Elizabeth Williams has been charged with the manslaughter of the infant at an Atherton home on January 21 last year.

The 29-year-old successfully applied for bail in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on Monday.

She's been released under her own undertaking and will be back in court on August 18.

The charge followed an investigation involving child protection detectives and officers from the State Crime Command's Child Trauma Task Force.
