Woman punched and kicked by man in Sunshine Coast unit

A woman has been repeatedly punched and kicked about the body and face after answering a knock at the door of her Sunshine Coast unit.

Police say the 21-year-old Caloundra woman answered the door at around 7.10pm on Thursday and was confronted by a man who forced her back inside and assaulted her before she managed to break free and flee.

The woman was taken to Caloundra Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday charged with deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, indecent assault and entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police say the woman and man were known to each other.
