Humpback whale freed from net in Moreton Bay

A humpback whale has been cut free from a net, after it was found tangled and in distress in Moreton Bay. 

Rescuers responded after the whale was spotted struggling in shallow waters off Shorncliffe this morning. 

Helictoper footage showed the whale tangled in a net, with rescuers trying to pull it free. 

Rescuers later pulled the net into their boat, and moved away in a bid to encourage the whale to swim into deeper waters.
