Baby whale dies after rescue attempt on Gold Coast beach

A baby whale that beached itself just north of the Currumbin Creek on the Gold Coast has died.

A group of rescuers tried to save it after it was spotted close to shore, but in the end were forced to bring it in to the beach.

During the rescue attempt, as a crowd of locals gathered to watch, several adult whales were spotted just off the coast.
