Aircraft in 'good condition' after mayday call in Queensland's Southern Downs

A recreational aircraft has been discovered in "good condition" after a mayday call was made in Queensland's Southern Downs region.

Air traffic control received a mayday call when the "unknown aircraft" was near Killarney about 9.26am (10.26am AEDST).

The aircraft had experienced distress and the pilot initiated a forced landing, according to emergency services.

Queensland Police discovered the aircraft in good condition about 15 kilometres north east of Killarney, near Warwick.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) was also alerted to the mayday call and responded to the incident.

"AMSA understands the pilot was not injured during the forced landing," an AMSA spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said a LifeFlight helicopter flew to the scene from Toowoomba.

Investigations are ongoing.
