War of words continues over Ros Bates' Queensland parliament comments

The bitter feud between Queensland Labor and the LNP has exploded today with insults, personal attacks and threats of legal action.

The Premier stepped up the attacks on shadow health minister Ros Bates accusing her of being the nastiest MP in Queensland Parliament.

"She is immature, mean, nasty and insulting," Miles said today.

The furore erupted over an incident in which Shadow Health Minister, Bates, yelled out "cross your legs" while Health Minister Shannon Fetinman was speaking in Queensland parliament.

Videos of the outburst was posted to social media by Fentiman and media outlets, and has since been viewed more than a million times.

But some members of the LNP are furious - because some videos do not include the context of the remarks - which were made during a maternity debate over pregnant mothers being diverted to Hospitals far away.

"It has led to vile and threatening ramifications," Queensland MP Amanda Camm said. 

But the Premier says Bates initial comments should also not be forgotten.

"The focus should be on how inappropriate it is to hurl an insult like that at a woman anywhere, anywhere, let alone on the floor of the parliament," he said.

This is not the first clash between the two members of parliament.

Bates has often attacked the Health Minister in media conferences.

On one occasion Bates said "Shannon Fentiman is a fraud, a phoney and a failure".

But the LNP has argued the social media abuse directed at Bates has made this incident far more serious - with legal action to be commenced.

"Ros will be issuing a concerns notice to the health minister," Opposition deputy, Jarrod Bleijie, said.

The videos this afternoon taken down from the Health Minister's social media after a request from the Parliamentary Speaker. 

Bates has also requested an apology and $5000 towards her legal fees from Fentiman.
