Bystander pulled man from ute submerged in Brisbane River

A man has been taken to hospital after being pulled from his submerged ute by a bystander this morning.

The ute came off the road at Kingsford Smith Drive at Hamilton near the Inner City Bypass at 6.45am.

An unidentified Good Samaritan dived into the water and pulled the 51-year-old driver from the car.

He was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition.

Unconfirmed reports suggest he may have suffered a medical episode while behind the wheel.

Emergency services have retrieved the vehicle from the water.

Authorities are now appealing for the bystander involved or anyone who saw the accident to come forward by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
