Union boss's name deleted from house plans

A building manager who deleted the owner's name from plans for a luxury Brisbane house denies he did so to keep his identity as a union boss a secret.

Key witness Mat McAllum, a Mirvac building manager, has told the royal commission into trade union corruption he realised the owner of the Cornubia home was former union boss David Hanna before the work started.

Mr McAllum on Wednesday admitted his own boss told him the work could be billed to the company's unrelated Orion retail development at Springfield.

"I didn't want the name to be conflicting with asking trades to do work," Mr McAllum told the commission in Brisbane after being pressed on why he deleted Mr Hanna's name from plans that were forwarded to tradies.
