Uni students could get brush with Obama

Police are planning for the possibility of a speech by US President Barack Obama to Brisbane university students during the G20.

There's speculation the president will address students at the University of Queensland during his visit for the world leaders' summit.

"Certainly there is an intention that he will address students," Queensland Police Assistant Commissioner Katarina Carroll told the ABC on Friday.

She said it had not been confirmed where it would take place.

"I'd be loath to say on air that it's true, and in a couple of days' time that might not be the case at all."

Earlier this week, White House officials confirmed the president would deliver a speech on American leadership in the Asia-Pacific while in Australia.
