Two women charged over Qld kidnapping

Police have charged two women after they allegedly abducted an 11-year-old boy in Cairns on Monday.

Police say the two assaulted a 28-year-old woman in her home before taking the boy, who was known to them, to a nearby restaurant.

The boy's father was notified and he retrieved his son from the two women, who have been charged with child stealing and burglary.

The boy was not harmed during the incident.

The women, aged 20 and 33, are due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on September 21.

The older woman has also been charged with assault.
