Two killed on north Queensland roads

An elderly woman has died after her van and a truck collided in Townsville.

The woman, in her 80s, was taken to hospital after the collision at Condon on Tuesday afternoon but was pronounced dead soon after.

Police say the truck driver did not receive serious injuries and the forensic crash unit is investigating.

It was the second death on Queensland roads on Tuesday after a 20-month-old girl was killed when struck by a minibus on Palm Island.
