Two injured in serious Cairns crash

Two women have been injured, one seriously, in a car crash in Cairns early on Christmas morning.
Police say the 24-year-old driver of a station wagon lost control and crashed into a tree at Bentley Park about 4am (AEST).
She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Cairns Base Hospital.

The 20-year-old passenger also suffered minor injuries.
