Two dead after pole crashes in Queensland

A 74-year-old woman has been killed and a man aged in his eighties has been critically injured in a car crash in Queensland's southeast.

Police say their car struck a power pole on Old Gympie Road at Burpengary in the Morton Bay region around 5.48pm on Wednesday.

The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the male driver was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile a 20-year-old Weipa man who was injured when his car hit a power pole and rolled at Napranum in far north Queensland on May 31 has died in Townsville General Hospital.

A 19-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.
