Two Brisbane families lose house in fire

Two families have lost their Brisbane home in a fire a fortnight out from Christmas.

It's believed a burning candle sparked the blaze, which ripped through the house at Eatons Hill, north of the city, on Thursday night.

Fire Inspector Rob Graham says two families, consisting of nine people, lived in the house that is now uninhabitable.

"It's unfortunate for both these families, particularly getting close towards Christmas, they're now going to have to relocate," he told ABC Radio.

Nobody was hurt in the blaze, which took fire crews nearly 40 minutes to extinguish.
