Townsville doctor to face rape charges

A north Queensland doctor is set to face court charged with eight counts of raping a patient and another woman.

Police will allege in court on Saturday that the 52-year-old raped a patient at his Townsville clinic in 2012, and also raped another woman between 2016 and 2017.

As well as the eight counts of rape he is facing charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice and breaching bail.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is due to front Townsville Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Police also say they believe the man has more than two victims, and are calling for anyone else with information to come forward.
