Teens charged with Gold Coast burglaries

Teenagers aged just 13 and 14 have been charged over a string of burglaries on the Gold Coast.

Police arrested and charged the two boys, along with a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old male, following an alleged break-in at the Peter Senior Court residences at Parkwood on Thursday.

A 62-year-old woman returned home from a walk about 5.15pm to allegedly find the four youths inside her home.

It's alleged they stole jewellery and a car that was used to flee the scene.

Police tracked the group by helicopter but the vehicle was abandoned on Nerang St at Southport about 6.15pm.

The dog squad was brought in to track the group, who were arrested a short time later.

Police charged the teens with one count each of burglary, commit an indictable offence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The 13- and 14-year-old boys were also charged with multiple other burglary and stealing offences, allegedly committed on the Gold Coast in December and January.
