Teen robber flees from riled-up Qld grocer

A would-be armed robber was forced to make a hasty retreat when a female grocer fought back with a metal pole in Ipswich.

The teenager brandished a knife at the 52-year-old store manager when he demanded money and cigarettes at the Bundamba store on Thursday morning.

But he was given a rude awakening when the woman walked behind the counter, grabbed the pole and swung it at him, forcing him to run away.
