Teen charged over Brisbane carjacking

A teenage boy has been charged after a woman was hit in the face with a gun during an attempted Christmas Eve carjacking in Brisbane.

The 15-year-old was arrested in Mackay on Monday and charged with a string of property, driving and assault offences.

Police allege he used a stolen Mazda to follow a 19-year-old woman to her Alderley home on December 24.

He then tried to steal her car, allegedly smashing her in the face with a gun when she refused to hand over her keys.

She required surgery for eye and facial injuries.

Her father also sustained minor leg injuries after coming to her aid when a second man in the stolen Mazda drove into him.

Police allege the teen also used the same car to steal fuel from two Queensland petrol stations.

He will appear in court at a later date.
