Taxi driver robbed, punched: Qld police

A 23-year-old man will face a Queensland court for allegedly stealing a taxi driver's mobile phone and punching him in the face after refusing to pay his fare.

Police say the man, from Caboolture South, struck the 49-year-old driver after he refused to pay for a trip in the early hours of Sunday morning and an argument broke out.

It's alleged he also assaulted a man who came to help the driver and kicked the car before being arrested by police.

He's expected to front the Caboolture Magistrates Court on September 8 charged with robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm and wilful damage.
