Taxi driver bashed by waiting group of men

A group of men have bashed and robbed a taxi driver who pursued two women who allegedly did a runner on a fare.

The 36-year-old driver took the women to Bray Park, 25km north of Brisbane, at about 3.20am on Saturday and they got out without paying, say police.

The driver got out calling on the women to pay when "four to five men" appeared, hitting him several times to the head and stealing his money before they and the women left the scene.
