UPDATE: Ipswich CBD given all clear after peak hour bomb scare

Parts of Ipswich CBD were evacuated this morning after a blue bag was left unattended at a bus stop.

Police did not find anything threatening in the bag and have declared the area all clear.

Police had declared an emergent situation between the areas of Limestone, Ellenborough and East streets.

Buildings near the Bell Street bus stop were evacuated and precautions were taken, a police spokesman said.

The incident has caused heavy traffic and motorists are still being advised to avoid the area.
