Suncorp closed for police training drill

There will be boom, crash but no opera when Brisbane police take part in a major training drill at a closed Suncorp Stadium.

Police have warned local residents not to be alarmed if they hear yelling, sirens and bangs emanating from the arena on Thursday.

It's all part of a tactical training exercise and officers will be using training weapons which are incapable of firing ammunition but do contain rounds which simulate bullets.

The exercise will start at 10am and is expected to last four hours.

Police say there will be no road closures around the Milton stadium but there will be a large police presence as well as other emergency services.
