Stolen car crashes into fire truck

A man has smashed a stolen car into five other vehicles before reversing into a fire engine and fleeing on foot.

It's alleged the man ran red lights in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley on Saturday night before smashing into cars stopped at another set of lights.

Police say the driver then reversed into a fire truck and ran off to nearby Brunswick Street Mall, where he was arrested.

A 26-year-old Margate man will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence and obstructing police.
