Alleged flatmate torturer faces Qld court

A Gold Coast man charged with extorting, torturing and assaulting his flatmate regularly for 10 months has made a brief appearance in court.

Sangmin Jeong, 25, has been charged with one count of torture, four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, five counts of common assault and two counts of extortion.

The Korean national appeared at Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday, but his matter was adjourned to Friday after he requested the presence of an interpreter for his bail application.
