Sold a PUP, party is officially disbanded
AAP
Clive Palmer's political party has officially been deregistered by the Australian Electoral Commission, just weeks after he announced an end to his long-running involvement in politics.
The former Queensland MP announced last month he would disband the Palmer United Party, claiming Australia's political climate had changed since the party was formed to oppose federal carbon and mining taxes.
The AEC website on Monday stated the party had been deregistered on Friday because of "voluntary deregistration".
