Six teens charged over Qld armed robberies

Six teenagers have been charged over a string of violent armed robberies in southeast Queensland that ended with a police pursuit and car crash.

The alleged offenders are accused of assaulting a number of people and stealing their wallets and mobile phones during a three-day crime spree at the end of May.

In one incident, one offender allegedly hit a 17-year-old boy in the head with a bottle and struck a 19-year-old man with a wrench.

Police also allege the offenders stole a vehicle and filled it with stolen fuel.

The vehicle was involved in a police pursuit on the Bruce Highway on the Sunshine Coast and hours later crashed in Brisbane's Clem7 Tunnel.

Police have charged six teenagers, aged 15 to 17, with a string of offences, including armed robbery, attempted armed robbery with violence, stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Four of the teens will face court, while a 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
