Shocking video shows violent confrontation at Brisbane hospital

Shocking new video has been released showing a frightening assault on Queensland hospital workers.

The video, captured on CCTV at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, shows two male security guards trying to escort a man, believed to be a patient, out of the building.

The man resists and begins wrestling with the guards, throwing punches and causing them to tumble to the ground.

As the security guards pin the man to the floor, a distressed female hospital worker is seen calling for help.

More than 3000 Queensland hospital workers are assaulted by patients or visitors each year.

New safety measures are being put in place including CCTV upgrades, body-worn cameras and more security staff.
