Senior Qld Nomad faces assault charge

A Nomads bikie has been charged with assaulting a taxi driver on the Gold Coast.

The vice president of the Brisbane Chapter allegedly punched the worker in the face in the early hours of February 21.

Police alleged the 23-year-old hailed a taxi on Orchid Ave at Surfers Paradise about 1.30am.

He became so disruptive the driver stopped his car before arriving at the destination.

The patched gang member then allegedly became verbally abusive, before knocking the driver to the ground and fleeing on foot.

The 34-year-old was treated for minor injuries.

Police searched a house in Hamilton on Saturday where they allegedly found clothing worn during the assault, cannabis, drug utensils and Nomad paraphernalia.

The outlaw motorcycle gang member was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, possession of a dangerous drug and drug utensils.

He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 4.
