Alleged security guard stabber faces court

A man charged over the repeated stabbing of a security guard at an elite Brisbane girls' school has briefly faced court.

Khia Gribben, 25, made no application for bail in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody until October 9.

He was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, wounding, robbery and entering premises to commit an indictable offence.

Police allege he was in the midst of committing a robbery at the Somerville House school early on Wednesday morning when he was disturbed by security guard Darren Stribning.

It's alleged he stabbed Mr Stribning multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Mr Stribning was discharged from Princess Alexandra Hospital on Thursday after undergoing surgery.

"Darren thanks everyone for their support and good wishes and will return messages once he's home," his wife Paula Stribning wrote on Facebook.
