No trace of diver missing off north Qld

Authorities have found no trace of a scuba diver 24 hours after he went missing off the north Queensland coast.

Fellow divers noticed the 54-year-old man missing as they ascended from Lady Bowen shipwreck off Mission Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

Police, dive squads, the coastguard and private aircraft and boat owners have been scouring a more than 150 square kilometre search area.

They've found nothing despite perfect conditions, police say.

A Queensland government search and rescue helicopter is expected to join the search on Wednesday afternoon.

Three other experienced divers were with the man on the wreck dive, police say.
