Screwdriver attack accused in Qld court

A man accused of using a screwdriver to repeatedly stab a cyclist in Brisbane has faced court charged with attempted murder.

Joshua Joseph Tempany, 21, appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, a day after he allegedly attacked a 49-year-old riding along a bike path in Norman Park.

Tempany, who is also charged with seriously assaulting police and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, was remanded in custody and had his case adjourned to the mental health court on February 4.
