School knife attacker sought by Qld cops

A man has confronted a 10-year-old boy with a knife at a school in Queensland's Wide Bay region, police say.

It's believed the boy was getting a drink from a bubbler at the Maryborough school on Tuesday afternoon when he was threatened and ran back to his classroom.

The school was put into lockdown and police are now seeking the alleged attacker who is described as Caucasian, 180cm tall with messy ginger hair and a ginger goatee.

He was also wearing a a baseball cap with the letters 'RT' on the front and had a tattoo of a tear drop on his left cheek, below his eye.
