Residents to evacuate as Qld fire rages

Some residents of a southern Queensland town have been advised to evacuate as a bushfire rages out of control.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is advising residents from Doctors Creek Road to Parrish Lane in the town of Ballandean, in Queensland's Southern Downs region, to enact their bushfire plans.

"If residents do not have a bushfire survival plan or their plan is to leave, they are advised to do so now," a QFES statement said.

The statement said a large, fast-moving bushfire was heading towards the area and some property could be lost.

"Residents are strongly advised to leave now if they are able to do so," the statement said.

"Leaving is the safest option for survival."

Multiple fire crews are working to contain the blaze.
